History of The Mesorah Center for Continuing Jewish Education

Mesorah, the Hebrew word for tradition, refers to the chain of Jewish knowledge that has been passed down unbroken through the generations.

The Mesorah Center is based in Huntington, Long Island, New York. It offers residents of Nassau and Suffolk Counties a rich array of exciting, entertaining and provocative programs and lectures. Our programs stimulate interest in Jewish heritage and culture, and foster educational development. They are dedicated to opening and maintaining dialogues between all peoples. We welcome your interest, your ideas, and your participation. Classes and lectures are free of charge, unless specified otherwise.

The Mesorah Center was founded in 1995 by Rabbi Moshe LaBrie (see the Meet the Staff section below). Since then it has grown into a full-featured educational institution, with lecture series; a Hebrew Language Institute; the Kaufman Hebrew School; classes in Talmud, Jewish mysticism and spirituality, and the Philosophy of Judaism series; daytime and evening classes study sessions on weekdays and Sundays; women's classes, home study opportunities, and much more. In short, there is something for everyone!
